A Titanic Weekend!

Last weekend was a great few days in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  We met up with our friends from North Carolina and we simply just had a delightful 3 days!
We arrived on Friday and took in the wonderful museum of the infamous Titanic.
So worth it!  I was the only one in our group that died.
Yes, I was a woman and yes, I was a first class passenger.  However, I simply gave up my seat to a woman heading back to New York to be with her children.  There ya go...clearly, a martyr.
Not sure I could have done that in real life considering the severity of the situation.
One of my favorite parts of the museum was feeling the temperature of the water that was at 28 degrees.
It was a moving experience and one of my favorite facts was that White Star Line spared no expense to decorating with the finest of every detail.  So much so, they returned the marble and stone that was originally to be placed where the grand staircase was because a new more expensive and super flooring had just been released and was a sign of posterity because only the wealthy could afford it.  Guess what it was?
LINOLEUM!
Okay, I was quite shocked for sure.
Clay, Barbara, Me, Brianna, and Brian

We spent 4 hours in the museum and honestly we could have stayed longer if we read every single word.
At the end of the tour we placed rose petals in a huge box that will be spread over the wreckage site on April 12, 2012.  100 years after her the tragedy.

The weekend was great and here are just a few composites to show our fun.
Saturday was the Aquarium, Shopping, Eating, and of course the St. Patrick's Day Parade that featured SANTA CLAUSE!  Yes, there must have been about 400 Santa helpers in town for their annual get together.  They came as far away as Texas and Washington to be in the parade.
Very different considering we were in an Irish kinda mood.

Saturday night on our way back to our hotel (we walked everywhere) in town, we had our photo taken and this one is Brian's favorite.  The other photo we are all mean looking for sure.  No smiling.

I touched up the color a bit.  But you get the idea.  We all had a great time!

I saw a museum exhibit for the Titanic when I was living in Fort Worth and it was truly amazing as well as very moving. This sounds like it was a great trip on many levels!!!
