Someone once told us...

... that Bowling Green's weather is pretty much the same as the Atlanta area. Ummmmmm, I am thinking they were wrong or this Winter is exceptional. We are waking up to a balmy 4 degrees F this morning and the high is to reach 30 degrees F. We received 7" of snowfall in our neighborhood. We are just outside the Bowling Green city limits and our neighborhood is quiet. The snow here is drier than in the Atlanta area. The snow reminds me of the snow we used to get in Germany. It is hard to make a snowman but I am sure if we had hills it would be great for sledding. There are no hills here where we can grab a trashcan lid, plastic bag, or a piece of corrugated and have some downhill fun. However, the beauty is remarkable. Now that I have seen our home in 3 distinct seasons and have taken pictures...I just have Spring to go and I will have a photo for each season. I am over the snow. I want school back in session and mostly...I seek SPRING and the warmth that I know will follow soon. I am not much of a "cold" type person. I enjoy the warmth of the sun and bright days. It simply makes me happier.

We do not have lots of pine trees to hear the crackle of Jack Frost. The silence is deafening at times. It is as though the world stops when it snows. People tucked into their homes within the warmth and we all just open up our blinds to let the winter white light shine in. We actually found it funny to see people later in the day shoveling their driveways and sidewalks to their doors. The children do not play in the snow here. I am thinking the parents do not want their sod destroyed. At least that is my theory. Growing up, we used to stay out in the snow until we were drenched with wetness and then we would come in and fill our bellies with a warm soup and hot chocolate to only change our clothes and go out again. I simply find it strange with all of the children in our neighborhood...they are not out in the sugar to have some fun.

Standing in the middle of our street...I simply realized that maybe just maybe...everyone is popping corn, making soups and stews, and putting on a good movie.
What do you think?

From the WORLD OF DESIGN!

Yes, while we paper and mixed media artists are all about the buzz of CHA there is a competition happening in New York at Bloomingdales. THE BIG WINDOW! We all know that pretty papers begin their inspirations from the world of textile and designers that rock our world in our homes. We seek their inspiration from their designs that are filled in magazines, online e-zines, blogs, and of course the run way. But the competition is fierce. One may say it is getting nasty. So, from afar I have watched, read, viewed, and yes...voted! Daily for my favorite window! So, here is your chance to chime in and vote for your favorite window.

BIG WINDOW CHALLENGE!

Can you tell which one I voted for?
So, click on the link above and be sure to tell me which window inspires you the most.
Then tell me what window you think I voted for...

Heck, I may throw in a RAK ! HURRY!

First Snow of 2010!

I simply loved that we had several snow days here in Kentucky.
The temperature was really too cold to be out and really enjoy the fluffy white stuff, however, Brianna enjoyed playing in the snow with her Dad and trying to make snowballs.
The snow was not wet enough to really have a snow fight, but she sure enjoyed 4 days with no school!

Here is a layout I created with 3 Scrappy Boys January 2010 Main Kit Add On.
The papers are fun and the extra goodies were perfect.

Another scrappy moment...

I have had this picture for several months. It was displayed on the side of the "fridge". I knew I wanted to scrap it but the colors in my shirt were not going well with anything in my pretty patterned paper collection. So, I opted for this design with these accents.

It is Wednesday and school is back in session! Wahooooooooooooo!!

This is all I have today. Happy Creating!

Snowy Day Scrapping...

Yes, I believe I have cabin fever.
This is the 4th day that school has not been in session for our county.
Good thing I have my scrappy goodies!
I thought I would share.
One of my favorite new kits is this month's January WHODUNIT kit by Studio Calico.
I love it.

Fly Fly Fly was inspired by a "Tiny Banner Challenge" over at Studio Calico. Although my banner is not tiny... I still enjoyed the inspiration.

I am still in my creative room and no telling what I will create next.
I am feeling the need to paint.
But we will see...

Perdido Key...

My cousin Mike and his wife, May sent me pictures of the trees in their yard from yesterday. They live practically on the beach in Perdido Key, Florida. It is West of Pensacola. This is May's first Winter of her entire life. She is from the Philippines where it is never below 70 degrees. I can imagine this seems weird to her but more so...it is just strange to see trees like this in Florida. So, I thought I would share a few pictures. Amazingly beautiful.
The snow is not melting yet here in Bowling Green. The temperatures are quite cold when outside. The windchill goes right through to the bones.
Keeping warm by the fireplace this morning and fingers crossed that school will be back in session tomorrow morning.
Keep Warm!

Snow Day *S*!

Yesterday school was called off and we enjoyed the morning as the snow fell silently and made everything seem crisp and clean. It is 24 hours later and there is no change.
Cold temperatures and the snow is not melting but remaining the same.
Therefore, no school again today. We do not mind. It is brightly lit from the snow outside and although it is really too cold to go out and enjoy it, we simply look out our windows and keep ourselves warm by the fireplace. Hot chocolate again today is what we will have and left over broccoli & cheese soup with a grilled cheese sandwich for Bri and a salad for me. Perfect weather for snuggling and playing board games that Santa brought for Christmas.

Snow in Bowling Green.

Beautiful and white.

We have photos of our new house from Summer, Fall, and now Winter Snow. We will wait for Spring to show the flowers in bloom on the trees.

For now, we are enjoying the cold. After all, it is Winter.

The snow is very soft. It is not even wet enough to create snowballs, really.
But still, it is fun just the same.
I am thinking...tomorrow will a day more of the same. Temperatures will not be above freezing until next week. So, we will wait patiently and enjoy what the heavens give us.
