Turned 10 and making memories

This is US in a nutshell lately.  We have been very busy and making memories is a day to day wonderful journey.  Carving out time for creativity is much harder, but we are all happy.  We are all healthy (healthier) and we are all enjoying life.

I know it is not Halloween, but

Well with the power to post ahead of time, I thought I would share a few layouts.  The only time of the year that I really enjoy "themed" scrapping is Halloween and Christmas. 

Halloween is the only time when I kind of stick to the themed papers, "kind of." 

I actually created these layouts several months ago.

I enjoy the 6" x 12"  layout for themed papers.

This is one of my favorite collections.  

You just have to love all the paper that Graphic 45 produces.

What was I thinking?

For a few weeks now I have been thinking about giving up scrapbooking and simply concentrating on my mixed media art. What the FLIPPITY DOO DAH was I thinking? Yesterday, I drove about 40 miles north of Bowling Green and as I was driving and listening to music oh too loud; I had this charge that I had not felt in some time. No, it was not the Auburn University fans with their SUV's all loaded down with tail gating goodies and their loud ORANGE and BLUE that was a caravan on their way to the Kentucky game. It was not the fall colors that were vivid on the trees. It was not even the beautiful sunshine. Was it because I was not alone? Was it because I was not hurried out of state to take care of family business? Was it because I had not a care in the world? I think not...what I was so giddy about was playing with paper! Yes, scrapbooking. I was on a roll and nothing was going to stop me from one thing that gives me great pleasure. Loaded down with my own goodies I was headed north to SHOP and create and it is a wonderful feeling. So, what the FLIPPITY was I thinking when I thought I could give up something that makes me so happy? Clearly, I was having a "not so clear" moment in my life. But baby, I am sniffing glue again! Not literally, but you paper artists know what I mean.

So, without further ado I will share a few things I created in about 5 hours. In that time I shopped and had lunch with some wonderful ladies along with stimulating conversations as well. I love Halloween. It is the one time each year that is pure fun. For a few hours on one night we are NOT in the backyard summoning nature but we are having a grand time dressing as something we are not. It makes me feel like a kid again and well...it is all about the candy, right?

I have a lot more to update everyone on the happenings.  Just stay tuned.

Here comes the rain again....

I am sure there is a song about this...."Here comes the rain again..." Today I am heading to the doctor for an all day procedure (infusion) one day these will stop. At least that is my prayer. On a positive note, tonight we are planning to go to the Fall Festival at Bri's school and I am sure we will have a great time. I love this time of year with the leaves turning and the cool breeze in the air, but really? All of this rain? We have not carved our pumpkin because of the rain but I am sure we will do it sometime this weekend. Time changes next weekend and that will be nice, I guess. It means the sun will set earlier and will rise earlier. Right now, we are in the dark in the mornings as Bri gets on the bus. Good thing the bus picks her up right at our driveway. On a more fun note, here are some ideas if you want to keep your Jack-O-Lanterns closed up in order to use the goodies inside for Holiday Baking. They are very cute pumpkins and the pictures were taken at Jackson's Orchard last weekend. I have seen some pumpkins where people have used the Mr. Potato Head pieces and created a face as well. But I think I am old fashioned and I like to light up my pumpkin. So, this year...we may do both. One painted and one lit.

Have a SPOOKTAKULAR Weekend! Only a week or so left for October and then it will be November. Gosh, I need to get my Christmas Shopping started!

Getting my Spook On and Scrappy On!

I have had a busy weekend and it proves to be a busy week. My husband is on vacation and he is in the garage making shelves to put out crates of "stuff." My daughter is home on Fall Break this week as well. This is a new thing for us as we never had Fall Break in Georgia. We are hoping once again (weather pending), planning a picnic to Mammoth Caves and do some hiking and check out the area this week. Time will tell this story. Well, as I stated at the beginning, along with company, birthday party, and an online crop this past weekend I managed to scrap quite a bit. I will put just a few things I have created from this past weekend and hope to upload more pictures tomorrow as well. So, I do feel creatively productive to say the least.

Fabulous Halloween Fun...

Yes, we had a great time on Halloween. This year was the year my daughter broke the cycle of "cute" on Halloween. She wanted to be something spooky and I think it was really all about the wig. We had a wonderful time and I dressed up at the last minute. These are the layouts I created on Saturday at the all day crop at Archiver's. We had a wonderful time scrapping, eating, and chatting it up.

This layout is of my daughter and myself. We had a good time before the trick-or-treating.

She is simply scary!

It is still FALL and the layout below is when we visited Kinsey Farms for our Halloween Pumpkins and Harvest goodies to decorate the house and front porch. It was a great day of family fun.

Thanks for looking at my latest layouts. I really am getting into the Christmas mood though. I am ready to rid the gold colors of harvest and enter the Red and Green for the Santa Season on its way to our home. Loving this time of year!

Breaking the Rules...

I may be expelled from Bad Girls' Top Designer but I am still enjoying the classes. Class #6 this week was about BREAKING all of the RULES of Design. So, I broke them ALL!

I simply had fun with this class and love this layout that I created about me. Once a month...January 2 December...PMS is just one of those things.....JUST LET ME--no comments, please. LOL

SPOOKED!

Oh yeah! I had a great mail day yesterday. I received the My Mind's Eye Collections of SPOOKED, and NIGHT LIGHT! With the two Christmas Collections I also received BE MERRY and SNOWED IN!

Okay, I am in heaven with mucho product to just let go and create. How fun!

A Frightful Fest

I have been loving all the Halloween goodies on the market. I have more arriving today along with some Christmas themed papers as well. Gotta love it! My newest favorite creation as of late is the this mini-book I created for my daughter. I wanted a durable book that she could flip through and read the poem I wrote her about Halloween. It is a huge hit! She goes through it several times every evening and has been bragging about it to her classmates and I am sure it will make a debut appearance for reading time at school. I plan on making a stop by later this month for mystery reader time.


What is so great about these papers that I still have mounds of scraps and thought I would create some simple cards to send my son. For me, simple is something I am learning but I do really love using lots of goodies on my pages and cards. It is just so much fun.

I plan on scrapping more today. I am really on a roll here lately. Looking forward to the leaves changing soon and I hope we have great color this year. So, go create something fun and give it to someone and brighten their day. There is something special about handmade gifts!

September Brings in the Harvest Season

I had an enormous productive day scrapping on Saturday and it was great fun to see everyone. I completed two mini albums, one layout, and 3 cards! Yes, I have officially started the harvest season of decorating in my home. The mantle is complete and I just cannot stop making some Halloween goodies to put out on my shelving and sofa table. I just think these Martha Stewart wine labels are perfect for just about anything. I plan on making a few layouts and cards with them as well. But here are the bottles I decorated in less than 15 minutes to add that special touch to a Halloween display within our home. You have just got to go get some today! I will upload more goodies later...but for now, BACK TO DECORATING! Oh, so fun.
