My Monthly Self-Serving Treat

Each month I get a special box.
This month is no exception.  I have been a subscriber member of Studio Calico way back since 2008.  Before I became a subscriber, I used to just buy monthly.
Then I took the plunge in 2008 and have received this fabulous gift each month.  Kind of like "beer of the month" for men but it is "mixed media" to a a person that loves to create.  That would be "me!"
So, this is my fourth photo of the year for my "Photo A Day."
I plan taking this photo throughout the year.  Each month.  It may seem silly to you.
A Kraft pizza box with script screen printed on the box, however,
it is my reminder to get back to one of my favorite hobbies.
I really think I will hold off on cleaning and organizing the garage the coming weekend and create!

Spellz at Twilight....

Spellz at Twilight!
Love this title. Where did I get this title you ask?
Well, I design for Art Freckles and this fabulous October Kit "Spellz at Twilight" is simply
SPOOKTAKULAR fun! There are some fabulous papers and lots of great embellishments that are so versatile as well. I have created different things this month and different sizes. So, here I go to let you gander a bit with what I created. Oh yeah, before I forget...starting at NOON today over at Art Freckles there is an online crop all weekend! Fabulous manufacture sponsorship and great inspiration to take you through this National Card Making Weekend. I hope we see you there.

Here are a few of my creations.Halloween Kitty ATC

Each year I create a mini-album of Halloween and the books become part of our Fall decoration throughout the common living areas of our home. They are so much fun to look through and I love that each book has different papers and designs. So, here is the book I have created to join our collection.
It will soon adorn some pictures from Halloween 2009.
I have also created several layouts, too. I have so much left over from this kit to create with that I am so stoked to use some of my
leftover goodness at the online crop this weekend at Art Freckles.
Look for more postings this weekend with more scrappy goodness with my

Button Up Heart!

Today is my youngest child and only daughter's birthday. Bri is so creative and funny. I have a big party planned on Saturday for her and today is lunch/cupcakes with her classmates.
It should be a great day.
The weather is cooler here as we woke up to 45 degrees and this means, sweaters!
WOW, already.

Brianna asked for a special painting on her birthday and she said she wanted lots of paint and buttons on her canvas. I stretched a 12 x 12 canvas and with buttons in hand...I got started. So, here is the creation she will get from me, her mom. I thought I would share it as it came out better than I planned.
I am sure she will love it.

I hope Brianna enjoys her creation. She was my inspiration and she so loves BUTTONS!

Stepping out of my Scrappy Box...

Well, I must say that I am for once in a very long time enjoying painting and incorporating my scrappy goodies within my canvas art. Mixed-Media painting is so "freeing" for me. My latest venture in this painting I used brads, paint, patterned paper, and Studio Calico's ACEO's that are usually in place of journal spots or however you intend to create with them. I simply adore them and they were perfect for this creation. I stretched a 20" x 20" canvas and layered my paints until I achieved the hues that I wanted. Here is my finished project.
This week is going to be a creative week for me. I am preparing for the Bizarre Bazaar that we be held here on November 7th. I have two stations and I am pretty excited. I just hope that the majority of "on lookers" like what I am creating.
That is always a huge boost to one's ego and a confirmation.

There is a chill in the air today...Autumn is on the cusp...

SOLD! In 7 minutes FLAT!!

So, I have ventured onto the Etsy World. So far, I am enjoying it. But yesterday, sent it OVER the TOP! I was trying out some different techniques on canvas. The canvas was not stretched but it was a piece that I really liked and have had it for several weeks. My husband was not crazy about it but what does he know? NADA! It sold in 7 minutes after I uploaded it to my Etsy Store yesterday. My first sale. That is pretty exciting. I have several more items to add to MY CREATIVE ITCH, however, I need to get on the ball and take some photos and upload them. In addition to my success on Etsy yesterday, several weeks ago when I first opened shop I was contacted by our local county extension office for the Bizarre Bazaar that is happening here in November. It is "invitation only" and I am pretty excited to be able to showcase my art and possibly sell a few pieces. How cool is that? So, this is my latest TOOT. Don't worry, I will not be shouting every time I sell something on Etsy. I just hope that I am selling regularly enough to keep me busy. With that said, I need to do some things around the house and get busy stretching some canvas.
Are you creative this week? If not, take the time to play and enjoy the process.

Altered Antique Shadow Box...

This shadow box (as we have come to call them now), used to house fishing flies in a large chest of drawers. I was lucky enough to snag this goody at our local Flea Market two weeks ago. It has leaned against my wall all of this time and this morning, I decided to go ahead and alter it. I wanted it to be simple and show the wood with all of the great windows. So, I used my Thickers, One design of patterned paper, ribbon, and keys. The Thickers/Alphabet are the initials of our last name and first name of each of our 7 immediate family members. I love it and it is already hanging. Let me know what you think. Before cleaning and altering
AfterClose-Up
I am sure you get the idea. I am pretty proud how it turned out. Such a fun project for a Tuesday Morning.

Underground...

The day of the Falcon's Home Opener my husband and I took MARTA for several reasons. But the main thing for me was to get some photos of the "hidden treasures" of Atlanta. The average tourist or local sometimes may not know what is beneath the streets of Atlanta. There is an entire world of ART that awaits ones eye. I took photos of the art on the wall from the MARTA station platform at 5 Points Station in Atlanta. So, I decided to scrap one of my favorite photos for this week's lesson at Bad Girls. The lesson was all about mixing patterns and color with design principles coming into place.

Well, I am an "out of the box" scrapper and totally got into this class.
My problem was choosing papers to accent the colors within this photo of the wall art.
But, I feel I did pretty well. I am pleased.
Although, I was nervous after uploading it in the Bad Girls Gallery . The talent is unreal this week again! I hope I make the cut to next week as I am really loving the classes and they challenge me greatly.
So, without further ado...here is my entry for this week.

Giving it a "GO!"

Well, here I am again. I stopped blogging my "creative stuff" this past December of 2007. I zapped my blog of over 2 years and now I am back at it again. My goal is to keep this blog strictly for creative meanderings and inspirations. So, we shall see how it goes. I am thinking the look will change from time to time as this is a representation of how I am. I love new looks and get bored with the old from time to time. So, please enjoy the reads, links, and I hope to be an inspiration for all who visit my blog.
