Flip Flops and Applesauce

I am up before dawn as usual. So, I went searching out into the WWW. I found the cutest little blog/site. So, I also went shopping. The site is Flip Flops and Applesauce~I purchased the Hard Bound Copy of a Handmade Coloring Book. Yes, I am going to color it and give it to my daughter as she is learning to read and loves books. What is so great about this book is that you can also purchase the digital pages and print them out as well. It is just the cutest thing ever!

These fabulous illustrations that are accompanied by Nursery Rhymes is just too cute.
Chrissie Rouse is very talented and I cannot wait to get my copy and color!

You know...the digital downloads can also become parts of ones scrapbook pages as well.

Sunday Best

This is a photo of my Mother before church in 1957. I scanned the original photo as it was very damaged. I simply love incorporating "trendy" papers and items with my heritage photos. It will let my children know what things I loved to create with and share our family stories throughout our scrapbooks.

Delving into Hybrid Scrapbooking!

I was up early this morning and feeling creative. I went to Two Peas in a Bucket and purchased Danielle Thompson's Woodland Book Lovers-Printable Kit. I honestly think I am the last scrapper on this earth to not have Photoshop for digital scrapbooking. However, I simply love the "printable" digital kits. I mean really, how could you NOT love this?

I love that I can print these adorable items on anything I choose and incorporate them into my scrapbooking as well use them for their intended purpose. The possibilities are endless!

So, without further ado...this is what I created this morning with Kitschy Digitals.

I am definitely going to be on the lookout for "printables!"
Who knew it would be so much fun!

Mardi Gras

This is the perfect time of the year to scrap this photo of my grandmother. She was having her portrait sketched on the streets of New Orleans, LA. during Mardi Gras in 1958. So, I decided to take the "artsy" approach in scrapping this photo which totally goes against the "rules" of heritage memory keeping. But as I have said in the past...I love to scrap out of the box.

The layout below is something I truly love. The vase was my mother's and I inherited it after her death. The vase was purchased in Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War. We lived in Okinawa for 3 years and my mother collected all kinds of ceramic art and teak furniture of that time period. I love the colors of this vase and the Studio Calico Papers that have an inspiration of oriental flair were simply perfect to capture this picture of "My Mother's Vase."

Color My World

Here are my latest in Artist Trading Cards. I am in a swap over at Bad Girls and this is the design I have created. I used watercolor pencils, wooden stamps, Tim Holtz ink, glossy accents, some "bling," and my own handwriting. I hope the girls like them.

Let me know what you think...

Any Given Sunday

Here is the layout that I gave sneak peeks of a few days ago simply because the weather was not participating with me to get a great picture.
This is a picture of my great-grandmother's Sunday table. Every Sunday the family gathered in the yard for Sunday dinner in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.
This is one of those pictures where the past traditions are no longer but the memory still lingers through generation to generation.
The story was told to me by my grandmother and now it is on paper for my children to read.

Creative Teasing

...honestly, if it were up to me; I would be showing you my whole layout. But the weather here today is wet and well, I simply cannot get a picture that is complimentary to the layout I created at 5 AM this morning. However, I do have some sneak peeks of it and I will get the layout posted as soon as I get a decent photo. But for now, I really must leave my art room and do some cleaning!

I just cannot get enough time in my scraproom without letting the house go to shambles. So, I have promised myself to get some things done today that need attention. I have procrastinated long enough.

Nostalgic Scrapping

It's no secret to many of my friends that scrapping the "old" is my all time favorite. I have enough old photos to keep me scrapping for the rest of my life without taking another photo. But we know that is so not realistic as I must record just about everything in our family.

But there are times...when the old photos call my name. Gotta love a scanner, too! Well, I scrapped this weekend in my own little world at home and here are a few of my creations.

Just-a- card...I hate to waste good scraps!

The layout entitled "Shorts & Sandals," is of my grandmother. She will be 90 years old this coming June and I am making a special album to share with everyone at the grand party.

This Expression

I awoke this morning and was feeling creative and wanted to alter this little notebook that I had.
So, I thought that I would alter it with some favorite papers that I have been working with by Graphic 45 and on the pages share my thoughts for just today.
Nothing more. I really like how it turned out and as my husband says, "it's reflective."

Friday the 13th!

Staying Clear of Ladders and Black Cats!
Not sure why, but I think of Friday the 13th as spooky. I guess it is from the '80's and all of those gory movies that were a huge fad. So, this morning I went blog hopping and was searching for some inspiration as I wanted to scrap. I settled on the weekly challenge at Two Peas to use a Die Cut Background. So, this is what I came up with this morning. It is my first challenge at the Peas and well...it gets me one more photo scrapped!

The weather is to be wonderful this weekend and I hope to indulge...

Love is in the Air....

Tomorrow is Friday the 13th. My husband loves the number 13. He loves prime numbers as he was born on prime dates and he sees the number "13" as lucky where as most people see the number in a negative light.
I wanted to give my husband something to take with him to work on Friday the 13th that declares my love for him in a "scrappy way." Plus, it is the day before St. Valentine's Day and this is just my simple way of showing him that I love him. He is not the "rose and candy" kinda guy by any means. Home center store card and some wood and he is ready to go!

My husband is my best friend and there is no-one that I would rather laugh with and share great joy in this life as we both have chosen to follow, together...as one.

Thanks for looking and have a fantabulous FRIDAY the 13th! Go Create!

This Valentine's Day my daughter and I decided to give her teacher a special thank you instead of a Valentine. I used the Art Freckles February Kit~Ticket to Whoo-ville to add that special personal touch to someone that inspires my daughter to learn, her teacher.

Color and Memories

I need color. The drab days of rain and cold get me down. I am a person who enjoys a lot of light. So, I decided to use Studio Calico's Exclusive Paper along with a favorite Basic Grey line and other goodies. I just wanted to reflect on a day that was bright and full of fun. More so, the memories of this time together with my husband is always a special time for both of us.

Hard to believe it is February already...thanks for checking in with me!
